Kelly Drum captains his Fort Lauderdale real estate business to new levels of success. The Fort Lauderdale super-luxury market is rebounding, says Kelly Drum, partner in that city’s family-owned Drum Realty, in business since 1952.

"The market was a little flat, but it’s coming back with properties in the $4-million-to-$20- million range in our listings," he says.

Mr. Drum notes that property owners in the Fort Lauderdale luxury market are under little pressure to sell. "These are typically people who have an interest in simply putting their money someplace else," says Mr. Drum.

"Properties that might have attracted $15-million in 2006 and 2007 may only sell for $10- million today, so the challenge is getting the owners to list the property to reflect the reality of today's markets."

Recently, Mr. Drum sold a property to a Toronto buyer for $7,640,000. “It was a spectacular property with water on three sides — like its own private island," he says. "The gentleman purchased it just for the land and tore down a 15,000-square-foot house to build a new 18,000- sq.-ft home."

With a listing price of $9,190,000, the Nurmi Estate is a waterfront property recently sold by Drum Realty in January 2011. Overlooking peaceful Rio Barcelona from the banks of Nurmi Isle in Fort Lauderdale's famed and very exclusive Las Olas neighborhood, this property provides an amazing 300+ ft of dockage, enough for two large vessels. A large landscaped open space beside the residence creates a full-lot of privacy between the home and its direct neighbors. This lot was available for purchase separately, but was included in the final sale.

With a listing price of $9,950,000, Bontona is prized especially for its exceptional position on one of the most desirable points of land in South Florida. Commanding vistas, both up and down New River, are enjoyed throughout the property, with ample dockage for a megayacht present as well, making this the ideal residence for a yachtsman seeking direct access to the world-famous inland waterways of Fort Lauderdale and the Atlantic Ocean nearby.
